PROJECT OVERVIEW

Diagnostic Biochips - Print Collateral

Role: graphic design, layout, typography, pre-press

Diagnostic Biochips 2022 Catalog

Objective

Diagnostic Biochips, a Maryland based company that provides neural probes designed for research in electrophysiology, needed a rebrand of their yearly catalogs. The request was for a more modern, less cluttered design, while still keeping the visual cues for different types of products and incorporating their established brand styles. The company wanted to combine their two separate catalogs into one cohesive design, while also keeping it easy for their audience to distinguish the different product lines.

Approach

I first researched similar companies’ product catalogs - including medical supply parts catalogs. I knew I wanted to make the product images as large as possible, as each one included a few different measurements along the side and they needed to be uniform and large enough to read. I also wanted to keep the color coded differentiators between the different product lines that had been established in the previous years’ catalogs. I came up with a header design which would allow all of this information to be displayed while freeing up space for me to utilize the entire width of the page to show the products. I used white space to my advantage, and built on their brand styles, presenting a beautiful new layout directly to the VP of Marketing.

Results

An elevated and well balanced design that is modern and easy to navigate, yet still lends the main focus to the company’s products and technical specifications. This catalog will be made available on their website behind a gated form, which they will use to collect valuable information about their customers.
